Model 248-A One Meter Table Model Grazing Incidence Spectrometer. This instrument consists of a glass beaded stainless steel vacuum chamber and grating housing with a flange for mounting a 4-inch pumping system and an "0"-ring face plate for vacuum connections to scanning slit assembly or camera attachment. A micrometer adjusted slide assembly holds the bilateral entrance slit at a fixed angle of incidence, 82° - 87°, and allows adjustment across the Rowland Circle. Precision machined stainless steel ways complete the basic unit. A port for in vacuo feed-through mechanism to operate a filter inserter is in the chamber. Select filters and order mechanism if long wavelength stray light is to be rejected. The entire grazing instrument unit is mounted on an approximately 21" x 14" x 1.5" stainless steel block for extreme stability and isolation from vibration, and for instrument mounting in any orientation. Total weight is only 180 lbs.
