Laser Beam Expanders
Laser Beam Expanders come in cylindrical
or rectangular housings. The rectangular housing are more economically
priced.

Function
Lambda/Ten Optics laser beam expanders provide superior system
wavefront and, therefore, low divergence output. These reflective,
off-axis, non-obstructing laser collimating telescopes are manufactured
in four standard output beam diameters: 100, 150, 200, and 250
millimeters.
The entering laser beam is expanded by a convex secondary spherical
mirror (cooled or silicon optics versions available) and directed
towards a concave elipsoidal primary mirror which collimates the
expanded beam. The wavefront is fully aberration corrected and
achromatic by this traditional Dall-Kirkham configuration.
Applications
- Laser Beam Expanders may be used in:
- Interferometers
- Laser machining (cooled or silicon optics versions
available)
- Collimation of Laser harmonics
- Laser beam divergence measurements
- Lidar systems
- Beam condensing
- Remote sensing
- Propagation studies
Design Benefits
An all-reflective beam expander provides performance from the
ultraviolet all the way through the visible and infrared regions.
No focusing or color correction is required - there are no lenses
in the design. The transmission efficiency of the system is determined
by the reflectivity of the optical coatings. With only two optical
surfaces, these beam expanders are adaptable for complex applications
which might involve: multiple laser wavelengths, harmonic generators,
high power laser energy (cooled or silicon optics versions
available), large aperture needs. Reflective systems may be aligned
and tested at the He-Ne wavelength and used with confidence in
the UV and IR regions.
The top of the line housing is tubular aluminum construction with
nearly uniform cross section to minimize thermal distortion. Standard
mirrors are fabricated from ultra-low-expansion ceramic, although
metal secondary mirrors are an available option. These systems
are rugged and self-supporting. Micrometer focusing is provided
which will allow divergence correction and beam focusing at a
distance.
All Lambda/Ten systems are quality certified with spectral reflectivity
curves and wavefront interferograms.
