Materials and Complexity VII

12-16 December 2009

 

This annual workshop brings together researchers and students working across a wide range of topics from the forefront of materials science research, encompassing several orders of magnitude in length scales and connecting the morphology of materials with their physical properties. The focus is on computational, theoretical and experimental work that spans these fields.

The following organisations have confirmed that they will support the workshop in 2009:

• The Complex Open Systems Research Network (COSNet)
• The Australian Research Network for Advanced Materials (ARNAM)
• The Australian Research Council Network for Nanotechnology (ARCNN) www.ausnano.net

Students and Early Career Researchers are encouraged to attend and will benefit from a heavily subsidised attendance fee.

Program

It is planned to have sessions on the following topics:

• Nanobubbles and nanofluidics
• Complexity studies of financial systems
• Imaging of complex objects from the nano to the metre scale
• 3D characterisation of material microstructure
• Transport and mechanical properties of porous and complex materials
• Soft matter and nano-rheology

The final program for the 2009 workshop will be available several weeks before the workshop itself. Invited Speakers

Registration Information

Registration is now open for the 2009 workshop. The fee schedule for 2009 is as follows:

• Students:
  • COSNet/ARCNN/ARNAM members: free
  • non-members: $250
• Early Career Researchers (ECRs):
  • COSNet/ARCNN/ARNAM members: $150
  • non-members: $400
• Others: $500

• Late Fee of $50 applies from 12th October 2009
