How to prepare and send your abastract?

How to submit?
Send your abstract, prepared following the guidelines below, and using the provided template, by e-mail to albert.meige@anu.edu.au, with a cover letter precising the corresponding author contact details: full name, title, affiliation, address, e-mail address, phone and fax number, abstract title, preferred presentation (oral or poster) and the topic (see the Program page).

Preparation of Abstracts
You are asked to submit your abstract in one of the following formats: PDF , TeX or DOC (MS-WORD). However, note that PDF files are preferred. Each abstract needs to obey the guidelines given here and must fit a half A4 page. Before you submit files, please print your abstract on a black and white laser printer to verify the printing quality.

Abstract guidelines
We provide both a TeX and a DOC template and an example of what your abstract should look like. You should download one of these templates and complete it (i.e. please use the provided template and please do not make your abstract from a blank document). Here are some points that should be respected:

  • Whole abstract
    The whole abstract should fit in a box of 148 mm by 114 mm (5,83 in x 4,49 in).
  • Title
    Text: bold, 12 pt Serif font (e.g.Times-Roman/Times New Roman).
    Single line spacing.
    Alignment: centered.
    Should not exceed two lines.
    Extra line in 20pt between title and author list.
  • Authors
    Text: plain, 10 pt Serif font (e.g.Times-Roman/Times New Roman).
    Alignment: centered.
    Authors’ affiliations using superscripts.
    Extra line in 8pt between author list and affiliation list.
  • Affiliations / address
    Text: italic, 9pt Serif font (e.g.Times-Roman/Times New Roman).
    Each line should start with a superscript to allow referencing from the author list.
    Alignment: centered.
    Extra line in 10pt between affiliation list and abstract body.
  • Abstract body
    Text: plain, 10 pt Serif font (e.g.Times-Roman/Times New Roman).
    Alignment: justify (straight left and right margins).
    1000 characters or less.

Note:

  • It is very important that you respect the template above as the abstracts will be directly printed without any further processing.
  • Your abstract will be reviewed and we will let you know weither or not it fits in the conference program.
  • The proceeding of those who wish will be reviewed by the organizing committee and published in TSF (Thin Solid Films). More >>
