Welcome to Kylie's Homepage!
I am currently a Phd student in
Laser Physics, and
Atomic and Molecular
Physics at the
Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering,
Australian National University.
This takes up a large part of my time, and will continue to do so for a
while yet. If you are interested, a copy of my
CV is here and a relatively simple (well, I did my best!)
explanation of what my phd project is about
is here.
Here's the
ANU Physics student resources page.
I am currently the Vice President of PARSA, which is
the ANU Postgraduate and Research Students' Association, as well as one
of the co-ordinators of the
ANU Women in Physics group.
I have two pet rabbits, one called Esse, the other called Jot
(pronounced Yot). Jot is a Netherland Dwarf, but I'm not sure what Esse
is, apart from cute, but she is twice the size of Jot!
Here's some photos of them and
here's a good site for
animal icons, and a great
site all about bunnies!
I really enjoy bushwalking (that's hiking for those who speak American
english), and cycling. Australia has some beautiful and diverse
landscapes to explore. Here's some photos that I took of the Warrumbungle
National Park and the northern end of
Morton National Park, both in New South Wales, and of the Japanese Gardens at Cowra (also
in NSW). As a comparison to the Cowra photographs,
I've some photos that were taken when I visited Japan last year.
Here's some
information about Canberra, (where I live), the Australian
Alps, and my home state of
Victoria. Victoria has some
wonderful wineries which I visit when I get the chance, particularly
those in
North-east Victoria (especially
Brown Brothers!).
Here's the website of a
friend who has some wonderful photos of Serendip Sanctuary in
Southern Victoria, where she works as a volunteer.
And you can look at the tacky postcard
collection, (a collection of tacky postcards from around the world), a
website on one of my favorite bands: Tiddas
(you can listen to
a song by Tiddas at this site [do a "find" for Tiddas] or some
snippets of their songs on this site),and the Australian Music World Wide Web site.
Here's the web sites for the Sydney Morning
Herald, The Age and the Canberra Times.
Click here for the Earth Sanctuaries
web site. It's got some great Australian animal animations that you won't
find anywhere else. Another conservation group of interest is
the Australian Bush
Heritage Fund. Also, if you would like to register your apology regarding
the "stolen generation" (aboriginal children removed from their
families), here is the
Apology Australia web site. Visit it and do what our prime minister
wont. And visit the fantastic web site of the Australians for Native Title and
Reconciliation (ACT) (ok, so I'm biased since I designed it!) and
the National ANTaR site.
Ich lerne Deutsch, aber ich spreche nur ein bisschen! Hier ist ein
sehr einfaches
Englisch-Deutsches Wörterbuch : besuchen Sie! Also, here's a good
net based language tutorial for many different languages, and here's an excellent
dictionary site (many languages)...well worth a visit.
I can also ask for beer and chocolate in
Mandarin (Wo xiang yao yi bei pijiu he ye kuai qiaokelitang! Wo ye
xue Hanyu!). And while we are on the food/drink topic,
while I enjoy the occasional chocolate cake, I didn't think I'd be famous for my
eating or drinking
abilities! Anyway, here's a recipe site
compiled from favorites from people around physics at ANU.
AGAG is great for animated gifs: very impressive!
Here's a great site for icons: the
Icon Bazaar and
Hee Yun's graphics site is one of the best I've seen for icons, bars and
backgrounds. If you want some great "wavs", check out
the Wav Bazaar and Sound Links.
Awards for my web page!
