Sea of Hands

Canberra is the home of the Sea of Hands, being the first place to host this impressive representation of the Citizen's Statement on Native Title. Around 120,000 plastic hands in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags were planted by a small number of people in front of Parliament House in October, 1997, to create what was the largest public art installation in Australia.
