1. Events (6,7,8th Nov) involving Wirradjiri elder, Maureen Smith.

Two events taking place this weekend may be of interest to people on the antaract recipient list. Both involve Maureen Smith, an Aboriginal senior woman, grandmother, teacher, healer and carrier of Wirradjiri Aboriginal women's law from Dunedoo to the Victorian border.

**6th Nov (Friday) evening at 8pm Maureen Smith will be speaking at a meeting of the Canberra Jung Society Inc. (CJSI) upstairs in the Italo-Australian Club in Franklin Street, a few hundred metres west of the Manuka shops (ie. in the direction of Parliament House). Her topic will be SPIRITUAL AND CULTURAL DISLOCATION OF INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIANS.

For non-members of the CJSI, the entry charge is $10, with a concession rate of $5 for government pensioners, full-time students, the unemployed, those involved full-time in household duties etc.

Entrance for CJSI members is free. Since it is so late in the year, anyone prepared to pay their 1999 subscription in advance--$50 full rate, $25 concession rate (with eligibility as above)--will be admitted to the Maureen Smith meeting without any further charge.

**7-8 Nov: Weekend workshop for WOMEN ONLY on WOMEN'S BUSINESS. The workshop will be held at Forestry House, Banks St, Yarralumla, from 9.30am-4.30pm on the Saturday and then continuing from 9.30am-2.30pm on the Sunday. The cost is $180 and includes a barbecue dinner which will be provided AFTER the workshop closes for the SATURDAY, but there is no concession rate.
