BRINGING THEM HOME
Events to honour the Stolen Generations in the ACT & Region
Friday 22 May - Tuesday 26 May 1998

National Sorry Day was recommended by the 'Bringing Them Home' report. It is a day for 'bringing home' the Stolen Generations. In Canberra, Ngun(n)awal Elders will be involved in this event as the traditional owners of this land. Sorry Day will:
- acknowledge and honour the Stolen Generations - their stories need to be heard;
- be a time of sorrowing for pain, wrongs and loss;
- celebrate survival, healing and the beginning of new understanding;
- call for commitment to reconciliation with justice between all Australians.
The idea has sparked an enthusiastic response from Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and events are now being organised around the country.

EVENTS:
Friday 22 May Coming Home - a cross-cultural experience
7.30 pm National Library foyer, Parkes
An evening of traditional and contemporary dance, song, fashion, drama and visual art. Produced by Wiradjuri Elder & textile designer, Flo Grant, and South Australian artist Helen Stacey.
