ANTaR Update # 30 (Friday 27 February, 1998)

********** CHAIN OF HANDS - Wed 4th Mar - Parliament House ******** ********** 7am-9.30am Hi all, This is a special message to inform/remind everyone about the CHAIN OF HANDS happening on the Wed 4th March at Parliament House. We need lots of support for this one as it takes about 1500 people to form the chain around Parliament House. PLEASE come along and also try to RING AT LEAST TWO FRIENDS to let them know and urge them to participate. It is a fun and peaceful action. The CHAIN OF HANDS is being organised by DONT (Defenders of Native Title) Victoria, the Victorian branch of ANTaR, and is being supported by ACT ANTaR. It is not a blockade, but will consist of a peaceful human chain around Parliament House to draw attention to the opposition to the Government's Native Title Amendment Bill. Both the Senate and the House of Reps will be sitting on the day. If you can, please wear Aboriginal colours, because it adds considerably to the impact of the spectacle. People will be bussing in from Melbourne and some will come from other places, but we will need a strong showing from ACT supporters to make it a success.
