The Concept

The longer workshops are not mini-conferences. They are designed to achieve research outcomes not only through delivery of papers in the traditional lecture format, but through collaborative interactions and individual research conducted throughout the workshop. Thus the number of papers per day is restricted and the workshops run for an extended period, typically at least two weeks. Participation by active researchers from both Australia and overseas is encouraged. Budgets are limited, but some financial assistance may be given.

It is a condition of participation that the Centre is acknowledged in publications arising at least partially from research interactions during the workshop. Please mail the Centre a copy of any such paper (preprint and reprint) with a note alerting the Departmental Administroras as to its purpose. Even better, if it is available over the Internet, an e-mail to the Webmaster with its URL would be appreciated. E-mailing an electronic copy (Postscript, Word or LaTeX) is also acceptable. Accumulation of such records gives us feedback on the effectiveness of the workshops and is useful for obtaining further funding. Other feedback, and ideas for further workshops are always welcome.
