About the AIPThe Australian Institute of Physics exists to promote all aspects of physics to the wider community as well as providing support to physicists. Its aims include:
These goals are important for all physicists, and to achieve them the AIP needs YOUR support.
In particular, the ACT branch encourages members and prospective members to attend the stimulating program of Branch meetings .
The AIP umbrella also covers various groups, including the Physics Education and Women in Physics groups as well as specific discipline groups, which may be of interest to both new and existing members.
If you are not already a member of the AIP, please consider joining. Not only will you be notified about all upcoming Branch meetings and events, you will also receive a copy of the bi-monthly magazine of the Institute, the Australian Physicist. You will also be eligible to apply for the various awards and travel grants that the AIP can offer its members.
If you are already a professional physicist (Physics BSc or higher), or other scientist working in physics, please go to the National AIP web site, where you can download an application form to send to the National Secretariat. Science teachers, undergraduate students and others without a strict physics background may join as Associate Members.
