Volvo M 90 5 speed
(Volvo's strongest)

M90 Summary: There are 2 different versions of the M90, L and H. The ONLY difference is the gearing, L for lower first and second gear and H for a slightly higher first and second. There is an older pre-95 M90 version being weaker than the post-95. I believe that the difference lies in the syncros of the first 3 gears. All M90's come from 94-98 940 models. <Info from Patrick Myhrman>
The later versons are reportably good for 400 hp. Biggest issue is the flywheel, you'll have to take the 850R clutch and a flat B21/23 flywheel and modify accordingly. <Per>
The bellhousing is intergrated with the gearbox, therefore if you seek one ensure its for the B230 red motor, NOT the one off a 6yl white (or alloy) motor. The part e.g. # 1208790 is on the left side of the transmission.
Another issue is the length of the mainshaft - Initially the box mates to a thick dual mass flywheel (expensive), BUT if used with a Volvo flat flywheel the input shaft is not long enough to fit into the crank pilot bearing. An adaptor would be required, more info when a fix comes to light.
